Most companies regularly ship products on pallets, and these standards regulate the conditioning of wood packaging and pallets in order to control the targeted pests. Conditioning primarily comes in the form of heat treatment and chemical treatement. Both of these treatments are performed as a separate operation from the production of the typical wood pallet, increasing cost and handling.
